About Craftsman Retreat
How It All Started
After retiring from the military in 2010, an idea of building a wood-shop and using the timber from my own back yard, grew into a self sufficient facility concept I call Craftsman Retreat, built in 2017 with progress still being made. A workshop with a focus on making handmade furniture for myself and family, turned into becoming a student again. Starting with building a solid foundation in furniture design and wood working at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 2019. Making furniture that will last for generations and built with materials from my own property, is inherently satisfying. This allows me to carefully manage the limited resources I have, and use them wisely to make heirloom furniture for many generations to come.
