Handcrafted, Solid, Generational

I was born in Maryland and grew up just outside of the Washington D.C. metro area, but consider Germantown, Maryland my hometown. I enlisted into the United States Marine Corps prior to my senior year of high school to live out a childhood dream. Upon graduation from high school, I went to bootcamp and 25 years later retired after a successful military career. I married my high school sweetheart Maggie and 38 years later we are still sweethearts. After retiring from the Marine Corps we decided to stay in Ohio and put down some roots on a beautiful piece of property. I designed and built Craftsman Retreat in 2017 and set out to learn the furniture building trade at The University of Edinboro in Edinboro PA in 2018. After earning a BA in Individualized Studies with a Minor in Furniture design and Wood Working my plan came together with a full scope vision for Craftsman Retreat. Craftsman Retreat is my home-based studio bringing together a complete self-sufficient wood-shop process, starting with milling standing dead and select hardwoods, culminating into a finely handcrafted piece.
